New Zealand National Women’s team showed once again that they have made huge steps on the World stage. NZ were drawn in a group with high quality footballing nations including eventual winners Japan. They took every game to the wire losing by a single goal to both Japan and England.  The NZ Ferns showed that their players are a force to be reckoned with at the highest level.

The highlight of the campaign for NZ was a highly respectable 2-2 draw against Mexico. In an exciting finish that had the NZ team 2-0 down with only minutes to play they showed the resolve and talent to grab a point from the Mexicans.
